Matthew 24:9-12 describes a moral and social breakdown prophesied by Jesus – and the pursuant divisions that will ensue. (Spoiler: we are living this prophecy today)

Many will abandon or compromise their faith in the face of persecution or fear. They will turn to false idols or heed the words of false prophets, seeking retribution and vengeance rather than the Lord’s mercy and grace. Friendships, families – even churches – will divide over politics, morality and faith.

Truth will be obscured; falsehoods become a tool to achieve a self-serving end. Moral boundaries will erode and God’s command to love your neighbor will be scorned.
